A couple years ago, my town was hosting an event called "Touch-A-Truck." My 3 year old son, at the time, loved anything with wheels: police cars, fire trucks, tractors, monster trucks...
I thought to myself, "Wow... this event was made for him!" So early on a Saturday morning, we loaded up the car, snacks packed, and camera ready to capture this memory. We pulled up and my son's eyes popped with excitement! And then we got out of the car...
The sirens were blaring, trucks were honking, and motorcycles were revving their engines. Micah immediately covered his ears and started crying. We quickly learned that what I thought was going to be a highlight of his life became a stimulation nightmare.
Defeated, we packed it up and headed home to play with our quiet trucks.

The next year, "Touch-A-Truck" came back and this time I did a little more research. I learned that they offered a sensory friendly session that included a "quiet-hour." No honking, no sirens, just climbing, pretending to drive, and exploring. My son loved it and mama got the pictures and the memories to hold on to forever.
Summer is a time for memories, activities, and adventures. However, many of our clients need activities that are sensory friendly and adapted for them. We wanted to put together a list of places/activities all over Missouri that we can share with our families, providers, and clients. We hope that this list can help you make long-lasting memories.
